Launch of Chinese Domain Names (CDNs) for all .sg extensions
For all entities with an interest in Singapore, the time has come to register your Chinese Domain Name today, and secure your online branding in the Chinese Language Market!
Chinese domain names for .sg, .com.sg, .edu.sg, .org.sg, .net.sg, and .per.sg will become available for application in four Phases:

Rules applicable to all phases are:

Max no of characters = 63 punycode characters

All applications will be subject to prevailing charges. CDNs comprising single-character (e.g. 中.sg) or purely numeric characters (e.g. 六六七八) will be available only during Phases 1, 2 and 3, and will be accompanied by Premium Fee.

CDNs comprising a mixture of numeric and non-numeric characters (e.g. 买一送一.sg) will be classified as normal CDN and premium fees will NOT be applicable

Upon successful registration of a CDN, each applicant with a Full Simplified domain name will receive the corresponding Full Traditional domain name applied for and vice versa. These full –type domain names will be activated as a package.
Example of Full Simplified domain name: 学写号码 Example of Full Traditional domain name: 學寫號碼 Example of Variants: 学寫号碼; 学写号碼; 学写號碼; 學寫 號码; etc…

Successful applicants will also receive a list of Variants, consisting of versions of the CDN in a combination of both traditional and simplified script.

Applicants will be allowed to select and activate any number of Variants from the List subject to payment of an Activation Fee for each Variant activated.

All items not activated will not be resolved & will remain unavailable for registration for registration by other parties other than the Applicant

Applicant may make separate application to SGNIC for registration of additional Variants not captured in the List. Please contact us if you require more information on variant application.

By filing an application to register a CDN, the Applicant agrees to be bound by our terms and conditions as well as SGNIC’s CDN Launch Guidelines, SGNIC’s Registration Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

Priority Phase 1: Government Applications (CLOSED)
LIVE: From 1 Dec (12noon) to 30 Dec 2009 (5pm)

During Phase 1, only Government Agencies of Singapore are eligible to apply for available CDNs
-
CDNs comprising single-character or purely numeric characters will be available during this Phase, and will be accompanied by Premium Fee.

Disputes regarding CDN registration between two or more Govt Agencies will NOT be subject to SDRP. If not resolved within the timeline provided by SGNIC, other parties may be allowed to register the CDN in question. There will be no objection period for Phase 1.

Successfully registered CDNs for Phase 1 will be activated en masse & successful Applicants will be notified via email.
Priority Phase 2: Trademark Owners (CLOSED)
Pre-Registrations begin on 5 Jan 2010 (9am) LIVE: From 7 Jan (9am) to 17 Feb 2010 (5pm)

Trademark holders need to be registered with the IPOS. Applicants with trademark registrations for Device Marks or Service Marks alone will not be eligible.

Single-character and numeric CDNs available for a premium on top of Registrar fees

Applicants must submit applications in accordance with Clause 9 of SGNIC’s CDN Launch Guidelines. Submissions must comprise:

Supporting documents relevant to the particular extension (please refer to Section 3 of SGNIC’s Registration Policies, Procedures and Guidelines)
** PLEASE NOTE: the “Application Deposit” mentioned in item 4 of SGNICs Priority Claim form refers to the Bid Deposit, which only needs to be paid if the name applied for goes for bidding.

Multiple applications for the same name will go for bidding between 23 Feb to 16 March 2010. Bidding instructions will be disseminated via the Applicant’s email correspondence address at a later stage if there is a need for one to be conducted. Bidding will be conducted in accordance with Clause 10 of SGNIC’s CDN Launch Guidelines

SGNIC to receive payment of bid deposits in cleared funds by 2 Mar 2010, 5pm). Successful bidders will be given a week (after end of bidding period) to pay balance amounts (Final Bid Price - Bid Deposit) to SGNIC. The estimated deadline is 5pm on 23-Mar 2010.

By 5pm on 24 March 2010, successful applications will be activated en masse. There will be no objection period. Successful Applicants will be notified via email.

In the event the trademark held by and relied upon by the Registered Trademark owner becomes invalid on or before the General Launch period, the CDN will be de-activated, de-registered and made available for registration.
Phase 3: Sunrise (CLOSED)
Pre-Registrations begin on 10 Mar 2010 (9am) LIVE: From 25 Mar (9am) to 05 May 2010 (5pm)

Single-character and numeric CDNs available for a premium on top of Sunrise Phase charges

From 11 May to 1 Jun 2010, multiple applications for the same name will go for bidding. Bidding instructions will be disseminated if there is a need for one to be conducted. Bidding will be conducted in accordance with Clause 10 of SGNIC’s CDN Launch Guidelines

5pm on 18 May 2010 is the deadline for payment of bid deposits in cleared funds

Payment of final amount (Final Bid Price - Bid Deposit) must be completed in cleared funds by 5pm on 8 June 2010.
- Successful applications will be activated en masse by 9 June 2010, 5pm. There will be no objection period. Successful Applicants will be notified via email.
Phase 4: General Launch
Pre-Registrations begin on 7 Jun 2010 (9am)* LIVE: From 10 Jun 2010 (9am)* onwards
