Launch of .PRO 1- , 2- and 3- Character Domain NamesOn 10 February 2010, RegistryPro, the exclusive operator of the .PRO top-level domain officially announced plans for the highly anticipated release of 1-, 2- and 3- character .PRO domain names to the marketplace over the course of the coming weeks and months. 4- character .PRO domain names had previously been launched and we look forward to the opportunity to work with all interested parties to facilitate submissions throughout all stages of the process. For each eligible group of 1-, 2- and 3- character .PRO domains, the program will have three (3) main phases:
Preview Available Names:
Phase 1: Request for Proposals (RFP)RegistryPro has issued this RFP inviting potential .PRO registrants to submit proposals explaining how they would use and promote a particular one- two- or three-character .PRO domain name. Each proposal will require an application fee of 250.00 USD. RegistryPro will refund 50% of the application fee for any RFP not selected. Key dates are as follows:
Once an RFP response is selected, the domain will initially be registered through a temporary RegistryPro holding account pending transfer to a registrar (accredited and in good standing) of the successful applicant’s choosing. Any applicant selected during the RFP phase will be required to enter into a separate marketing agreement with RegistryPro and will be prohibited from transferring ownership of the domain during the term of the agreement. RegistryPro will begin its review of RFP responses upon receipt. Evaluation criteria will take into account the applicant’s business, technical, and financial capabilities, marketing expertise, business plan and the manner and purposes for which the proposed domain would be utilized. The length of the RFP responses should not exceed 15 pages and should include a statement that he or she has read the RFP guidelines posted at http://www.registry.pro/123 and agrees to be bound by the terms, conditions, and policies contained therein.

Phase 2: AuctionsUpon completion of the RFP component, RegistryPro will conduct Phase Two of the allocation process. Specific details on the auction process will be made available through updates to this website, as well as on RegistryPro’s website - so do check back.
Phase 3: First-come, first-servedFollowing completion of the RFP and Auction rounds, RegistryPro will announce a date and time where all remaining 1-, 2- and 3- character .PRO domains will be released on a first-come, first-served basis. All normal second-level .BIZ registration processes will apply, including the standard registry fee. The list and detailed release schedule of all .PRO domains will be posted on the RegistryPro registry services website.
