Colombia is opening up registration of second-level domain names in the .CO extension!

Although the requirements to register .CO domain names will vary throughout the different phases of the launch, there are a number of standard rules that will apply throughout all the phases
The standard validation rules for a .CO domain name registration are listed below:
- 1st and last character must be a letter or number
- Letters A-Z (case insensitive) and numbers 0-9 are accepted
- Spanish IDNs are permitted (include characters: á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, ü)

Domain name cannot have two consecutive dashes (—) in the 3rd and 4th positions

Underlined characters are not allowed

Dashes (-) are allowed but spaces are not allowed

The domain name must be at least 3 characters long and cannot exceed 63 characters

The domain name must not be in the list of reserved names
Sunrise Phase A: Local Trademark Owners
LIVE: From 1 Apr (9am) to 16 Apr 2010 (5pm)
Period during which holders of eligible trademarks that have obtained registered status by the Colombian trademark office can apply for their corresponding domain name(s) directly under the .CO TLD before registration is open to the general public.

During Phase 1, only holders of a registered Colombian trademark are eligible

The trademark used must have been registered and active on or before July 30th, 2008.

Applications will NOT be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event there are multiple valid applications for the same domain, an auction will be conducted to determine which applicant is awarded the domain.

All applications will incur a non-refundable application fee. In addition, all successful applications will incur a registration fee when the domain is registered.
Sunrise Phase B: Other Trademark Owners
Pre-Registration: From 15 Apr (10am) to 26 Apr (9am) LIVE: From 26 Apr (9am) to 7 Jun 2010 (5pm)
Period during which holders of trademarks of national effect that have obtained a registered status in their respective country or region anywhere in the world can apply for their corresponding domain names(s) directly under the .CO TLD before registration is open to the general public.

In Phase 2, only holders of registered trademarks of all nationalities are eligible.

The trademark used must have been registered and active on or before July 30th, 2008

Applications will NOT be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event there are maultiple valid applications for the same domain, an auction will be conducted to determine which applicant is awarded the domain

All applications will incur a non-refundable application fee. In addition, all successful applications will incur a registration fee when the domain is registered.
Landrush
Pre-Registration: From 15 Apr (10am) to 21 Jun (9am) LIVE: From 21 Jun (9am) to 16 Jul 2010 (3pm) ** (extended)
Period during which interested parties can seek to register priority domains not previously registered through the prior phases, or otherwise reserved by the Registry or Restricted by Policy.
