Free .SG Domain For SME

The SME (Small Medium Enterprise) Domain Name Reservation is part of the Infocomm @ SME programme which is a collaboration between IDA, ACRA and SGNIC and its registrar IP Mirror. The official launch date is 28 Dec 2007. Under this scheme, all domain names under the .com.sg or .sg will enjoy a subsidy from IDA for the first domain name registration for new business entities or business entities without a domain name.

New or existing business entities includes:

1. Businesses
2. Companies
3. Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
4. Public Accounting Firms (PAF)
5. Public Accounting Corporation (PAC)

How do I reserve a domain name?

You can now easily reserve a domain name (ending with ".com.sg" or ".sg") at the same time when you register a business, company or limited liability partnership in Singapore, electronically with ACRA via its BizFile system. Upon successfully registering and paying for your business/company registration at the BizFile system, you will be immediately shown the option for reserving a domain name. To reserve a domain name:

• (i) First check if the domain name (ending with “.com.sg” or “.sg”) you want is still available for use.
• (ii) If it is still available, you can provide your name, contact number and email address to confirm the reservation request. SGNIC will use this information to contact you should it require any clarifications.

Once you have successfully reserved your domain name at the BizFile system, activate/register your domain name with IP Mirror.

I did not reserve any domain name when I register my business with ACRA. How can I reserve and register the domain name I want?

You can reserve and register your preferred domain name with IP Mirror even you have not reserve it with ACRA during the business registration. Sign up your free account if you do not already have one and go to "SME Free Domain " menu to get your FREE .sg domain name. IP Mirror will reserve and register your domain name at the same time.

I am an existing company. How can I register a domain name?

You can reserve and register your preferred domain name with IP Mirror if you do not have an existing .sg domain name. Sign up your free account with IP Mirror and go to "SME Free Domain" menu to get your FREE .sg domain name. IP Mirror will reserve and register your domain name at the same time.

 

Can I reserve more than one domain name?

You can only reserve one domain name for each registration of business, company or limited liability partnership in Singapore at ACRA's BizFile system. If you want more than one domain name, you can register the domain names under other promotion offers under IP Mirror.

How long will my domain name be reserved?

Your domain name will be reserved for a period of three months. You may approach IP Mirror during this period to activate the reserved domain name.

What happens after the reservation period?

If you have not activated the reserved domain name after the reservation period has ended (3 months), that domain name will be available for registration/reservation again by any party.

I have forgotten whether my reservation period has ended. What should I do?

You may enquire through the Online Whois search at SGNIC's website .The 'Creation Date' will show the date when the domain name was first reserved. The reservation period will end three months from the 'Creation Date'.

How do I activate the reserved domain name?

To activate the domain name you have reserved, please sign up your free account with IP Mirror at if you do not already have one. Go to "SME FREE DOMAIN " menu to get your FREE .sg domain name. You need the following documents/information:

• (i) For Businesses: Your reserved domain name, ACRA Registration Number and NRIC number of any of the business owners
• (ii) For Companies, PAC or PAF: Your reserved domain name, ACRA Registration Number and NRIC number of any company shareholders or directors
• (iii) For LLPs: Your reserved domain name, NRIC number of any owner OR the ACRA Registration number of your parent company.

I have forgotten the domain name that I have reserved. What should I do?

If you wish to activate your domain name, but you are unable to recall the domain name that you have reserved, please contact IP Mirror at 62220105 with your company's ACRA registration number and NRIC number of the owner / shareholder / director.

What if I want to change or cancel the reserved domain name?

You may request the change or cancel with the SME team at SGNIC at sme@sgnic.sg

If two requests are submitted to reserve the same domain name at the same time, who would obtain the domain name?

The reservations are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, the first reservation received by SGNIC will be accepted as long as the reservation is in line with SGNIC policies.

Can I register .com.sg domain name and get the .sg domain free under this scheme?

You are only eligible for promotion under either one of the scheme. If you want to get .sg domain free, you can register .com.sg at full price and get the .sg free under the BOGOF scheme.

How long does the promotion last?

The promotion will be available from 28 Dec 2007 to December 2010.
