SGNIC NDN

.SG Numeric Domain Name

SGNIC announced the launch of pure numeric domain names on 22 Oct 2007. The launch will be in 2 phases:

  1. Soft Launch: 5 Nov 2007 to 26 Mar 2008. All applications will be processed as a batch (not first-come-first-served). (Application Closed)
  2. General Launch: 27 Mar 2008 onwards. All applications will be first-come-first-served. (Application Closed)

Registrations are also subject to the Guidelines for Application of Numeric '.sg' Domain Names during Soft Launch Period which prescribes policies and procedures concerning applications during the sunrise period, priority claims, objections, biddings and other general implementation details.

  1. Applications are open to sg, com.sg, net.sg, org.sg, edu.sg and per.sg. Applicants must fully satisfy the criteria for registering under each respective category.
  2. During Sunrise applicants have the opportunity to apply for premium NDN.
  3. Registered number mark owners may claim priority over other qualifying applicants. Complete the Priority Claim Form before 28 Dec 2007 and fax it to IP Mirror at +65-62220210.
  4. Applications are collected as a batch. It is NOT first-come-first-serve.
  5. During Sunrise NDNs are limited to a maximum of 11 digits. After Sunrise and during General Launch, the maximum number of digits for NDNs will be limited to 63 digits which is the maximum length for domain names in general.
  6. Sunrise applications are subjected to bidding procedure (1) when there are two or more applicants for the same NDN and there is no other applicant claiming priority, or (2) when there are two or more applicants for the same NDN claiming priority which SGNIC determines are entitled to claim such priority. Please see minimum bid price and the requirement to place Bid Deposit. SGNIC will notify applicants of the requirement for bidding via email.
  7. If NDN is not subjected to bidding, upon successful allocation of a NDN the applicant must pay to SGNIC an Allocation Fee within 14 calendar days of SGNIC's written notification of allocation.

About Premium Numeric Domain Name and Prices

Premium NDNs are numbers which are deemed to have a greater perceived value than others. There are 3 categories of premium numbers, namely Platinum, Golden and Silver numbers. All other numbers are termed as Ordinary numbers, as shown in the table below.

Please note that premium NDNs will only be made available during the Sunrise Period. Any premium NDNs not allocated during the Sunrise Period will be reserved by SGNIC and subsequently released again for bidding at a later suitable time.

Platinum

  • Single-digit domain names
  • Takes the form 1.sg, 2.sg, 3.sg and so on
  • Only 10 such domain names in each domain extension – 0 to 9
  • When subject to bidding, minimum base bid of S$40,000
  • Prior to commencement of bidding, a Bid Deposit of S$10,000 must be paid to SGNIC and which is refundable to unsuccessful bidders.
  • When not subject to bidding, Allocation Fees is S$40,000

Golden

  • 2 to 11-digit domain names
  • No fixed form, but generally has an easily-recognisable pattern like XX.sg, or XYXY.sg
  • Some 4,300 Golden permutations
  • When subject to bidding, minimum base bid of S$1,000
  • Prior to commencement of bidding, a Bid Deposit of S$1,000 must be paid to SGNIC and which is refundable to unsuccessful bidders
  • When not subject to bidding, Allocation Fees to be paid to SGNIC is S$1,000

Silver

  • 3 to 11-digit domain names
  • No fixed form, but it may bear a longer pattern like XXXXXY.sg, or XYXYXYXYX.sg
  • More than 12,000 Silver numeric domains available
  • When subject to bidding, minimum base bid of S$600
  • Prior to commencement of bidding, a Bid Deposit of S$600 must be paid to SGNIC and which is refundable to unsuccessful bidders
  • When not subject to bidding, Allocation Fees to be paid to SGNIC is S$600

Ordinary

  • 5 to 11-digit domain names
  • All other permutations of pure numeric domains
  • More than 100 billion pure numeric domains available
  • When subject to bidding, minimum base bid of S$200
  • Prior to commencement of bidding, a Bid Deposit of S$200 must be paid to SGNIC and which is refundable to unsuccessful bidders
  • When not subject to bidding, Allocation Fees to be paid to SGNIC is S$200
